Before the 50 miles:
I am learning to walk.
At various times I have walked long distances. Yosemite, Colorado, putting up hay, Upper Peninsula.
To finish this 50 mile run I will have to walk–it is rugged in high elevation. And it is long.
So I am running a lot to get ready…but I need to learn to walk.
After the 50 miles:
Walking was a key part of it. When I felt I could not go on I slowed a bit to a fast walk and kept moving. What Bryon Powell calls “Relentless Forward Progress“.
